Domus Julia is a gorgeous vacation residence in a small palace of the 1700s and completely renovated. Domus Julia is divided into two apartments, each of which can be reached with an elevator. They are composed of a living room with dining area and kitchenette. One of the suites accommodates up to 4 people and we have two double, each with private bathroom.
Our superior category rooms are quiet, spacious and full of sunlight. They have parquet floors, soundproof windows and flameproof textiles signed by famous Italian stylists. Each room has its own bathroom and is equipped with air-conditioning system, direct digital phone-line (ISDN), satellite TV, refrigerator and private safety box. The bathrooms are equipped with beautiful towels and hairdryer.
A complete network of transportation is located nearby and provides rapid transfers to all places. A big assortment of restaurants satisfies all the needs of Cucina-Italiana fans. An adjacent parking place is available.

Domus Julia was a lot of fun. We spent 3 nights and loved the location but above all was the BF- It was rich and filling and we looked forward to it everyday. I omly wished they served it longer as we usually had late nights and had to wake up earlier than we wanted to make it for BF. Very close to trevi fountain and metro station.
“It’s perfect place to visit Rome ”
Stayed nine people for the New Year's Eve at the Domus Julia apartments. Everything was fantastic: the place, the furniture, the location, maintenance, staff, etc. Rosa did her utmost to keep us happy and we did appreciate all the flexibility and good advices that all the personnel offered to us.
The appartment is right next door the hotel in a quiet street very close to Trevi fountain, just five minutes walking to the Spanish Steps and no more than 15 minutes walking to Piazza Venezia. There is also a supermarket down the street that opens everyday till 10:00 pm so you can always buy something and cook at the appartment.
I highly recommend to anyone visiting Rome to stay here and if you are travelling in a group no wonder that this is the best option you can find. Enjoy your stay as much as we did!!
"Consiglio vivamente Domus Julia"
“Location Location Location”
Stayed here September 22-25. The room was far bigger than we had expected, very clean, friendly staff and nice breakfast all helped make it a memorable trip. Excellent location, very close to the Trevi Fountains and Barberini Metro station, plus lots of great places to eat.
Not the cheapest place in Rome to stay, but this is five star accomodation masquerading as three star!
In October 2008 we stayed in Room 11 at Domus Julia , which is adjacent to Hotel Julia, where the front desk, little bar, and breakfast room are located. The room was spacious, clean, well furnished, air conditioned and comfortable. The street below was noisy but with the window closed at night it was not a problem. The bathroom was also spacious. Our only complaint was that the shower head in the tub/shower was located on the back wall not an end wall (uncomfortable and hard to use) and there was some unpleasant mildew around the tub.
There was an elevator, although it was an easy climb up the stairs, and we are in our early 70's. The room looked exactly like the photo in the brochure. There was also a safe located in the armoire, and a little frig.
The location on Via Rasella was perfect in every way for our 4 nite stay ( 150 Euros per nite) which included a lovely, abundant breakfast with cereal, pastries, soft boiled eggs, rolls, cold cuts, cheese, fruit, juice, coffee and tea.
We walked everywhere, Trevi Fountain just a few blocks away, Spanish Steps too. Even shorter to the Metro stop, Hop On/Hop Off Tour Bus stop, wonderful restaurants far too numerous to mention in every direction, all within walking distance. Via Veneto, Piazza Barberini all close by as well. Taxis were never more than 10 Euros one way for the sights located a bit out of our walking reach, like the Vatican, Piazza Navonna, Campo di Fiore and the Pantheon etc.
We found that ordering the set/fixed menu for the day was the least expensive way to go, and the food was always delicious, especially the pastas without exception. We were usually confused about whether the bread and service charge was included or not......
Gelato shops seemed to be on every corner, a temptation we found difficult to resist.....
Rosa and the staff at the Hotel are extremely helpful, she answered my every little question before arrival, and during our stay as well. She arranged for transfer from our cruise ship and to the airport with a very good driver with a station wagon to accomodate our huge luggage.
The hotel also offers free internet use, which made staying in touch with our family so easy and reassuring.
We are recommending this quaint hotel and its fabulous location to all our friends and would definitely stay there again.
"We would stay here again"
We had a nice spacious room and huge bathroom. WE had plenty of room for four people. The Domus Julia is in an excellent location. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was very basic. We would stay here again.
“We’ll stay here again”
We recently went to Rome on our honeymoon and stayed in Rome for 5 days. We picked Domus Julia because is was central to everything.
Rosa and her staff were awesome and the accomadations were fantasic. The apartment (double) was spacious and more that up to date. Getting around was easy and close to everything (we used the Metro to only go to the Vatican).
Rosa's staff were great with maps and were stuff was and with suggestions for dinner.
Another review said that they had to walk down a long walkway in the dark which is inaccurate. The light is on the right hand side and is lite up.There is no doubt I would stay there again when I travel back.
Consiglio.
Stayed in June for 2 nights and loved it. It is actually a converted apartment so there is a shared entry lobby area and three rooms off of it. Our room was very spacious and quite cozy. It felt like an apartment in itself. The hotel next door, Hotel Julia, is related to this one so all the amenities of it are offered to the Domus's guests and the staff were very helpful.
They actually have someone come serve you breakfast in your "room" (the lobby is more like a kitchen), although we were unable to try it due to our early start on the day. I think this would be the perfect place for a couple families to come and stay together, renting out the whole apartment. We stayed in our rooms and never saw another guest but it would be great to leave the doors open and have one open apartment and simply retire to the individual rooms at night. Overall we really liked it.
“What a find”
“Fantastic little b&b in the heart of Rome's historic centre”
Having read some previous negative reviews about the hotel on this site (after i'd already booked to stay there), I was expecting very basic accomodation, so it was a wonderful surprise to find that the negative reviews were inaccurate (in my humble opinion). The Domus Julia is clean, tidy and very comfortable. The room was functional and attractive enough & air conditioned. The bed was was comfy and our room was quiet. Plenty of piping hot water for showering etc.
We found the staff to be very friendly and good humoured-they are available at the front desk 24/7, should you need them and spoke good English. They are able to book day trips for you and provided a very helpful map of the city and leaflets about travel options.
Breakfast was good, offering a range of pastries, cereal, meats, cheeses and beverages.
The location was absolutely suberb! The Barberini Gallery is at the top of the street and Piazza Barberini is a two minute walk away (a metro station is located there which links to Vatican, Colosseum, Termini station, etc and is very easy & safe to use). It is a 10 minute walk to both the Trevi Fountain and The Spanish Steps, and there are plenty of bars and restaurants at hand (which is not the case in every area).
I highly recommend the Domus Julia. Our stay there was fantastic.
“Fantastic suite accommodation in best location for the price of a normal Hotel room”
We are a group of friends - three couples, who go away twice a year to locations across Europe. We are all well seasoned tourists and spend a lot of time checking out reviews on the Hotels we stay in. Domus Julia didn't have any reviews but their website, gave such a good impression that we threw "caution to the wind".What we needed were three deluxe large bedrooms close to each other, with on suite facilities.
We received lots of quotes from other Hotels which, were at least 50% more expensive than the 440 Euros we paid per night for this place. What you get is an apartment with a small fully equipped kitchen. Three separate lockable suites, complete with antique wardrobes and wooden floors lead away from the kitchen. One of the suites has a bath and the other two have showers - each of the bathrooms is equipped with luxury marble fittings.
All the suites have double glazed windows and those lovely shutters, which are so efficient at blocking out any noise as well as the sun. The front two suites look out into a typical narrow Roman street and the one at the rear looks over the President of Italy's palace.Hotel Julia is next door but they treat the appartment as completely separate. You have your own front door (Three inches thick with a superb dead locking system) plus a video entry phone.Talk about location!
There are three restaurants within 50 yards and an excellent shop for cold meats, fresh bread, ground coffee, fresh blood red orange juice etc....The Spanish Steps are five minutes away and all the famous sites are within walking distance, as is the Metro and transport links....You won't believe the quality of the three ice cream shops within minutes of the appartment!Hotel Julia organised our taxi to Campanino Airport for 70 Euros and Rosa (who spoke excellent english) just couldn't have been more helpful.
She made excellent recommendations for restaurants and was a mine of information. All in all, having read the horror stories on various websites about highly priced rooms in poor locations, I can only comment that this place is an absolute delight. I am pretty sure they would rent out the rooms separately but the appartment is ideal for families or small groups...I think they have two floors, with a total of six rooms in Domus Julia..
If that's not enough I suppose that you will have to check out Hotel Julia next door.If you do book there, mention to Rosa that MAX FROM ENGLAND had such a great time with his group of friends in October, that he just had to recommend it...I am pretty sure that we might be popping back next year so it would be nice to see if anyone has taken up my recommendation!Good luckMax...Bexhill...Sussex...England
“Bueno,bonito y centrico”
