ROME MUSEI CAPITOLINI FROM 31 MAY TILL 12 JANUARY 2014

An exhibition on the figure of Archimedes organized in collaboration with the Museo Galileo -

Institute and Museum of the History of Science in Florence, with models he invented and

archaeological findings from the ancient Syracuse, where the scientist lived in third century BC.

The exhibition then narrates the second rebirth of Archimedes, commenced in the 13th century with the

gradual rediscovery of his writings. After catalysing scholars, artists and scientists, Archimedes

became a point of reference for the leading lights of the Scientific Revolution, who employed

Archimedes' writings to lay the bases for the new science popularised in the 17th century.
