The National Programme of Celebrations for the 150th anniversary of the unification of Italy enjoys the patronage of the Presidency of the Republic. The individual municipalities were invited to create events to celebrate the unification of Italy.
The biggest project is on "Places of Memory": a wide-ranging classification, restoration, enhancement and narration of places, people and events of the Italian Risorgimento located along the national territory. 400 sites are involved. For example, there will be recovery work to places full of symbolic significance such as the restoration of the rock in Genova Quarto dei Mille, with the birth of the "Memorial of the Thousand", or the restoration of the park's memory Gianicolo in Rome.
But the celebrations also provides a rich chapter of exhibitions. In Rome, the exhibition will be held and the testimony of the Regions of Italy, which will renew the tradition of the two major exhibitions of the regions in 1911 and 1961.
