The Auditorium Parco della Musica houses from 1 to 27 February, the seventh edition of "balance. Festival of New Dance. " The exhibition offers an overview of the dance world with great masters in the international and emerging artists who move in border areas between dance, circus and theater.
This year also the artistic director is responsible to Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, the Belgian choreographer and dancer frequent guest of the festival. The same Cherkaoui opens with the Indian dancer Shantala Shivalingappa this edition, with the Italian premiere of "Play. "
Other guests on the bill, the Anglo-Indian choreographer and dancer Akram Khan, Jin Xing, China considered the most 'great choreographer of the moment, famous worldwide for his autobiographical book "I wanted to become a dancer, " and the Belgian collective Peeping Tom, which will close the festival.
"Pina Bausch. A Portrait"will be the Festival's tribute to the great dancer-choreographer German, with footage of some of his most famous shows, films about his work, interviews with her and her closest associates, his documentary on the method improvisation and editing, the notes of the tour and the Tanztheater Wuppertal. There will also be a live show, "Moving with Pina", directed by and starring Chris Morgan, a solo dancer of the Tanztheater Wuppertal.
Within the exhibition there will be the usual appointment with the balance Rome Prize for contemporary dance, now in its fourth edition. Eight finalist teams will present many studies to the public and an international jury. The winner will receive a contribution for the production of the show and an invitation to the Festival Balance 2012.
