The Roman Carnival, extinct for over a century, still occupy a prominent place among the city’s most popular traditions, and from 6 to February 16, 2010 will again enliven the capital with a rich program of shows and events for everyone, while venue until 1871 the famous “Running of the Berbers”, will host a series of ‘rivisatazioni’ the old horse shows.

On 6 February will be the Grand Opening of the Carnival parade in Via del Corso to inaugurate the festival with a procession of representatives of artists, nobles, people and military, as the military band riding the 8th Regiment of Lancers in Montebello historic estate, the Palio of Rome opened and closed by a thick band of eaters and masks of Carnival.

From 11 to 16 February, the Village of culture and tradition in the Piazza del Popolo, will examine the cultural themes that bind Rome, the horse and the Carnival, with spaces reserved for morning schools and families, lectures and in-depth horse shows, promoted by the Department for Cultural Policy and Communication of the City of Rome, conceived and organized by Mark Hare for the Academy of Equestrian Theater.

On 13 and 14 February will take place in Piazza del Popolo, a major horse show, directed by Umberto Scotti and artists like Jean Francois Pignon, Hasta Luego, Pasquale Beretta, Alizee Froment, I Butter in Manlio Fani, the Movieriders2 … while for smaller, February 14, there will be the Baptism of the pony, the carousel and carnival costumes in the grand parade of masked children on ponies, in collaboration with the pony club members and FISE FISE centers of Rome.

This 2010 edition of the Roman Carnival provides an exhibition at Palazzo Braschi as of 10 February to 5 April 2010, will house approximately ninety works from the Museum of Rome, the Museo di Roma in Trastevere, from private collections and “Jewel of Women”, the precious dress Roberto Capucci belonging to the collection of the Museo Fortuny in Venice.

A loan that is part of exchange agreements between the artistic city of Rome and Venice, as part of the twinning between the two events of Carnival, as well as the performance of some Venetian artists who are marching in the inaugural parade in Rome, while the trio “Form in music,” propose three appetizers music in costume. In exchange, the Teatro dell’Opera in Rome will bring a production at the Teatro La Fenice in Venice.

The inauguration of the exhibition will be accompanied by readings taken from Roman Carnival JW Goeth, played by Mariano Rigillo and Anna Teresa Rossini, while February 14 will be hosted “Concerto Veneziano” of the string quartet Musica in Maschera in precious clothes eighteenth century.

Sunday, February 14th, from 10.30 to 14.00, 20 dance groups and music representative of Ecuador, Peru, Colombia, Bolivia, Mexico, Panama, Guatemala, Venezuela, Honduras, Brazil and Paraguay will animate the streets from Piazza Venezia, passing through the holes Imperiali to the Colosseum to the Arch of Constantine and give life to the First Latin American Carnival in Rome.

There will also theatrical performances, a competition for the finest lighting on the balconies of the city, complete with a jury, the openness of some historic residences in Rome, the historic commemoration of fireworks called “The Fochetti” on the terrace of Pincio After the concert of Angelo Branduardi “Ancient Future”, the Festival Izanai Yosakoi Piazza Navona and the charming dance of Moccoletti.
